Group Supervision - A Gestalt Relational Model
This course, a gestalt process model of supervision, has been designed to meet the training requirements as proposed by both the IACP and IAHIP for accredited supervisors.
Group Supervision – A Gestalt Relational Model
About
Supervision is a space for counsellors, psychotherapists, and allied health professionals to develop their skills, protect from burnout and explore their own personal and professional development. It is a dynamic learning and development process in which both parties learn and grow together. (Page & Wosket 199:4). The Gestalt Relational model forms the foundation of a supervisory relationship based on the philosophical principles of existential phenomenology, field theory and dialogic existentialism, a relationship that can hold safely what Yontef describes as our
‘Moment to moment experience of the ‘between’ and of the mutual influencing and co creation of meaning’
(Yontef 2002:15).
This supervision group will be a holding space for therapists where they can be supported to stay with and reflect on how they impact and are impacted by their clients. Providing the opportunity where they can be curious and learn from their experience of what is evoked in them including their struggles, doubts, and growing edges as they emerge in the group and ultimately to support them in providing a safe holding space for their clients.
